COVID-19: Coronavirus FAQs and advice
The safety of our customers and colleagues is of paramount importance. Like many businesses and public service providers we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak and taking guidance from both the Scottish and UK Government.
We would like to update you on the number of actions we are taking (and planning to implement) to keep you safe whilst travelling by bus plus the measures you should be taking to keep yourself safe during this unprecedented time. We hope you find the following useful.
Is public transport restricted?
No. At this time there are no restriction to public transport.
Are you operating a normal service?
Yes, we are currently operating a normal bus service and will continue to do so until informed otherwise by the Scottish or UK Government or any other relevant authorities.
What happens if/when schools close?
We expect this to happen and have plans in place for when it does.
Initially we will look to operate a ‘non-school day service’. This is a service we operate on some routes serving schools. It basically means reducing the level of service. Alternatively, we will operate a Saturday or Sunday service.
You can see all bus journey options - both scheduled and live – by downloading our mobile app or visiting our website.
What happens if/when other public buildings and places close?
We shall take guidance from the Scottish and UK Government and plan to continue to operate a level of service. If this changes, we will update this website and social media.
What are you doing to keep your drivers and customers safe?
Prior to COVID-19 we had a robust cleaning programme in place at all our bus depots. This has been increased with a key focus on high usage areas such as drivers cab area, hand poles, assistance rails and seat heads.
In addition to this we are in the process of stocking buses/drivers with bacterial wipes to reinforce cleanliness in those high usage areas. Drivers will also have the choice to wear disposable gloves.
Will there be hand sanitisers on bus?
No. As you will be aware hand sanitiser gels have sold out in most retail outlets and to provide an on-going supply in the short term is proving difficult.
As well as intensifying our cleaning programme we are in the process of providing all drivers with personal hand sanitisers and reinforcing the government and public health advice on regularly washing hands for 20 seconds with soap and water.
What should I do as a customer?
Keep on travelling as normal. We would also ask for you to be mindful of the government and health advice to protect yourself and others from the virus. For more information visit the NHS website.
We hope this information gives confidence and reassurance we are doing everything we can to reduce the spread of the virus.
